Assam doctor attacked by mob over COVID-19 patient death row

Guwahati/IBNS: In a shocking incident, a doctor was brutally beaten up by a mob after a COVID-19 patient died in the central Assam’s Hojai district on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Odali COVID-19 care centre in Hojai district.

According to the reports, after the death of a COVID-19 patient at the centre, the relatives of the deceased patient had brutally beaten the doctor Dr Seuj Kumar Senapati who was on duty.

A video of the incident went viral on social media and police have so far arrested four persons in connection with it.

On the other hand, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that such barbaric attacks on frontline workers won’t be tolerated.

He tweeted: “Such barbaric attacks on our frontline workers won't be tolerated by our administration. @gpsinghassam @assampolice Ensure that the culprits brought to justice.”
