Guwahati, Sept 27 (IBNS): A day-long conference of the General Managers (GM)s of District Industries and Commerce Centres (DI&CC)s was held at NEDFi House on Tuesday.

The conference was conducted by the Assam Industries and Commerce Department.

Commissioner of Industries and Commerce, KK Dwivedi called upon the GMs to conduct workshops and campaigns in colleges, universities, research and technical institutions to encourage young minds to nurture ideas and flourish them into big dreams.

In a one-to-one interaction, Dwivedi further asked the GMs to find suitable land for development of ‘land bank’ to attract investments and facilitate all industries registered under DICC to avail subsidies and incentives.

Addressing the officials present, Ravi Capoor, Principal Secretary of Industries and Commerce Department said that small tea growers contribute 30% of the state’s tea production. General Managers are the driving force for mobilising the formation of Self Help Groups to benefit the small tea growers.

Earlier, Anurag Goel, Commissioner of Taxes, gave a presentation on the upcoming Goods and Services Tax (GST) and its effect on industries, business and commerce in Assam.

There were also presentations on Standup India, Startup India, MSME Databank and Tea Cess Policy in the conference.
