Assam: NEEPCO power project’s tunnel pipe bursts, three people missing

Guwahati: The Kapili power house of the NEEPCO power project on the Kopili river at Umrangso in Assam’s Dima Hasao district was submerged by water after a tunnel pipeline burst on Monday morning.

Following the incident, huge volume of water entered in the power house of the project and washed away several properties.

According to the reports, at least three employees of the power project are missing.

Several adjoining areas of the power project have been flooded after the tunnel pipeline burst.

Meanwhile, top officials of NEEPCO and district administration have rushed to the area to take stock the situation.

On the other hand, water level of Kopili river has been gradually increased following the incident.
