Assam: Police bust a gang of fake gold and currency notes

Guwahati: Police of Assam’s Biswanath district busted a gang of fake gold and currency notes.

Police arrested five persons of the gang and recovered fake Indian currency notes, live ammunition, printing machine, fake gold bars, vehicles etc.

Based on intelligence input, a team of Biswanath district police led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kulendra Nath Deka and DSP Jayanta Baruah on Friday night launched an operation at Ambari Seujpur area of Biswanath town.

Kulendra Nath Deka, ASP of Biswanath district said that, the police team seized one printing machine of fake currency notes, fake currency notes of Rs 5.49 lakh, one Swift Dzire vehicle, two motor bikes, 18 rounds live ammunition of 7.62 mm, 51 rounds live ammunition of point 22 calibre and other items from the house.

Police arrested five persons identified as Amir Ali, Atikul Islam, Mafizuddin Ahmed, Saiful Islam and Habibur Rahman.
