Assam to set up wildlife safari cum open zoo at a cost of Rs 214.54 crore: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati/IBNS: The Assam government has decided to set up a wildlife safari cum zoo at the Dholai area in the Cachar district at a cost of Rs 214.54 crore.

The decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held at Haflong in Dima Hasao district on Wednesday.

“The Assam cabinet has today approved to set up of Cachar Wildlife Safari cum Zoo at Dholai, Cachar at a cost of Rs 214.54 crore. It will be an open zoo,” Sarma said.

The Assam Chief Minister further said that, based on extensive field surveys and consultation with the stakeholders, the state cabinet approved the principles for solving all outstanding border disputes with Meghalaya.

The Assam Chief Minister also said that the cabinet also approved the introduction of the Commerce Stream in two colleges and the Science Stream in eight colleges.

The state government will give the highest civilian awards of the state on Jan 24.
