Assam’s Baghjan oil field fire: Two firefighters die and one still missing

Guwahati/IBNS: Two firefighters have died in the massive fire incident which broke out at a gas well of Baghjan oil field in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The NDRF team on Wednesday recovered the bodies of two firefighters from the site.

Confirming the report, Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said two bodies were recovered from the site on Wednesday morning.

“One firefighter is still missing. Three firefighters were missing since yesterday following the fire incident,” Kumar Sanjay Krishna said.

He further said a rescue operation is going on to trace the missing person.

On the other hand, the Oil India Limited authorities said the overall situation is now becoming normal.

More than 15 fire tenders of Oil India Limited, ONGC, IAF, districts are engaged in the operation to douse the fire.
