Asthi of Atal Bihari Vajpayee to be immersed in WB's Gangasagar tomorrow

Kolkata, Aug 23 (IBNS): The Asthi Kalash of late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be immersed in Gangasagar on Friday. 

Earlier in the day, the Kalash Yatra started from Amtala of South 24 Parganas District.

It will reach Gangasagar on Thursday night.

Many people paid their tribute to Atalji in many places while Kalash Yatra was passing through Diamond Harbour Road.

Union Minister Smriti Irani attended the programme.

Vajpayee, a three-time Prime Minister of India, a Bharat Ratna and a stalwart of Indian politics who represented the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Aug 16.  He was 93.

His last rites were performed in New Delhi on Aug 17.
