Banking services affected in Guwahati following nationwide strike

Guwahati, Dec 26 (IBNS): Banking services were affected in Guwahati and other parts of Assam on Wednesday following the nationwide bank strike.

The strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) - an umbrella organisation of all 9 unions including the All India Bank Officers Confederation, All India Bank Employees' Association, National Confederation of Bank Employees, National Organisation of Bank Workers, National Organisation of Bank Workers- in protest against the proposed merger of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank with Bank of Baroda.

This is second in a week when the bank employees have called for a nationwide strike.

All banks are closed in Guwahati and many customers were forced to return back.
