Kolkata/IBNS: After 48 hours of disappearance, 15-year-old state-level shooter Damayanti Sen from West Bengal's Howrah was reunited with her family on Saturday, bringing relief to her relatives and the sporting community.

According to reports, the teenager was traced to the Ramakrishna Ghat area in Howrah before being brought back home.

However, neither her family nor the police have disclosed where she had been during the two days she remained missing.

Investigation continues

Confirming the development, Tauseef Ali Azahar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Howrah Central), said the authorities were pleased that the teenager had safely returned.

"We are very happy that she has been reunited with her family. There are some issues regarding her sports and studies with her family. We are investigating. We can’t say more regarding the investigation. She is fine now and with her parents. She will be produced in court," Azahar said.

Police have indicated that the investigation remains active and that further details will emerge after questioning the teenager.

Missing since Thursday

According to her family, Damayanti Sen went missing on Thursday after leaving her home to buy milk.

Her relatives said she had gone to bed early the previous night and left the house without carrying her mobile phone.

They also stated that there were no visible signs of distress or any unusual circumstances before her disappearance.

Investigators later found CCTV footage showing the teenager at Howrah railway station, marking the last known sighting before she went missing.

Disappearance drew widespread attention

The incident sparked widespread concern across social media and Bengal's sporting fraternity, with many expressing hope for her safe return.

Unable to trace their daughter, Damayanti's parents approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Her father also met West Bengal Minister of State for Sports Indranil Khan on Friday, seeking assistance in locating her.

Special investigation team formed

Given the seriousness of the case, Howrah Police constituted a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to trace the missing teenager.

With Damayanti now safely reunited with her family, investigators are questioning her to establish the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and determine why she went missing.
