New Delhi/IBNS: Bengali film actress and former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mimi Chakraborty on Monday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Delhi for questioning in connection with the money laundering case linked to the alleged illegal betting app.

The 36-year-old was issued summons by the ED on Sunday.

Mimi's statement is being recorded by the ED officials under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with the app, 1xBet.

She is likely to get quizzed by the probe agency related to her link to the app through endorsements and financial transactions.

The ED has also issued summons to Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela and Mimi's colleague in Tollywood, Ankush Hazra in the same case.

Former Indian cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan were also quizzed in the same case.

The ED is probing into multiple cases linked to illegal betting apps that have allegedly duped several people.

Earlier this year, the Indian parliament passed a law banning real money-based online games.

The ED has already filed a case against 29 celebrities including top actors Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj.

Others include actors Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhi Agarwal, influencers Sreemukhi, Shyamala, Shoba Shetty.
