Bharat Bandh attracts lukewarm response in Marathwada

Aurangabad/UNI: The call of Bharat Bandh given by Bahujan Kranti Morcha, along with various organisations, in protest against the CAA and NRC, has received lukewarm response across the eight districts of Marathwada region in Maharashtra.

The district evoked a mixed response, according to reports reaching here from various talukas. The bandh was seen in Muslim-dominant areas.

At the main Mondha market, traders downed their shutters. The Agriculture Product Market Committee (APMC) also observed a bandh in Jadhavwadi locality of Aurangabad.

Muslim organisations were seen supporting the bandh and their activists were seen in the city, asking the shop owners to close their shops. Most of the schools remained closed, as a precautionary measure.

Reports from Nanded said that commercial establishments were seen functioning in the city. All commercial establishments, offices, shops, schools and colleges were seen functioning as usual.

In Parbhani district, the effect of Bandh was seen in most of the places, including Pathri, Manvat, Selu and Jintur, where protest was going on against the CAA and NRC.

Bandh was seen in city areas, including Shivaji chowk, Gandhi Park,station road and Kacchi line. Schools announced holiday as precautionary measures.

The bandh call evoked a mixed response in the districts of Osmanabad, Latur, Beed, Hingoli and Jalna.
