Bihar: Boat accident in Muzaffarpur leads 18 children go missing

Patna/IBNS: Eighteen children went missing after a boat overturned in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Thursday morning, media reports said.

The incident occurred near Madhupur Patti Ghat alongside Bagmati River.

The children were going to school in the boat which was carrying 34 people in total.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said senior district officers have been rushed to the accident site.

"Rescue operation is underway... I have asked the District Magistrate concerned to look into the matter with urgency. The state government will provide all assistance to the affected families," the Chief Minister said as quoted by NDTV.

A team of State Disaster Response force has been rushed to the site.
