Bill and Melinda Gates get Padma Bhushan

New Delhi, Oct 26 (IBNS) India on Monday conferred 'Padma Bhushan', one of its highest civilian awards on Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates and his wife Melinda for their contribution in improving health in developing countries.
The announcement was made after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting U.S. President Barack Obama watched together the Republic Day parade.
 
 The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated billions of dollars for  medical research in developing countries. It has also partnered with the Indian government, aid groups and the private sector to work against the spread of  HIV in the country.
