BJP activists, police clash in Lucknow

Lucknow, June 30 (IBNS) A pitched battle was fought between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and police in the Uttar Pradesh capital when the party resorted to protest over the law and order situation in the state.

Police used batons and water cannons to fight off the activists while the mob was teargassed too near the UP Assembly building.

BJP workers tried to breach the barricades as police resorted to all means to ward them off.

The Akhilesh Yadav government of Samajwadi Party is under fire from opposition over the law and order, including several rapes and killings of women after assaults.
