BJP against forcible conversions: Amit Shah
New Delhi, Dec 20 (IBNS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Saturday said his party is against forcible conversion of religion.
“BJP is against forceful conversions and therefore we want to bring a law,” Shah told reporters.
Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat also sought an anti-conversion law.
"Bring law against conversion, if you don't like it," Bhagwat was quoted as saying by CNN-IBN.
Bhagwat added, "If you don't want to change into Hindu, don't convert Hindus either."
The Parliament recently witnessed uproar on the issue of alleged forced conversion in Agra.
Some 200 Muslims were recently converted to Hinduism in a ceremony organized in Uttar Pradesh by groups like Bajrang Dal linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
