BJP leader Sambit Patra gets relief from MPHC

Jabalpur, MP, Mar 20 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday stayed further hearings, in the Bhopal Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, of a criminal case filed against Bharatiya Janata Party Spokesperson Sambit Patra prior to the 2018 Assembly elections.

Justice JP Gupta issued the ruling.

On October 27, 2018; Patra held a press conference in MP Nagar locality. Though the scheduled timings were 1300-1500 hrs, he commenced it at 1230 hrs.

Construing this as violation of the Model Code of Conduct, Election Officer LL Ahirwar had a first information report registered. The lower court issued a bailable warrant against the politician but the latter moved the High Court against it.
