Kota, Dec 21 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bhawani Singh Rajawat has sparked a controversy as a video purportedly showed him threatening voters during the recent local body elections in Kota.

In the video, he is purportedly seen in the video threatening voters to be thrown out of their illegally built  residence if they do not vote for his party.

The MLA has denied threatening the voters.

"There is a scheme in my constituency under which people are residing illegally in around  250-300 residences," Rajawat told media.

"At the time of the Municipality elections, I told them that I have given you house to live and other basic amenities like water and electric connections. So, you should vote for the BJP and not for the Congress as it has not done anything for you. The Congress only exploited poor people," he said.

Meanwhile, two days after another BJP MLA Prahalad Gunjal was suspended for allegedly threatening a Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Kota in Rajasthan, the latter has withdrawn his application for voluntary retirement, reports said on Sunday.

Kota's CMHO RN Yadav, who earlier submitted his resignation following the threat, took back the same after the Health Minister assured him of safety for his family.

The BJP has suspended the lawmaker for allegedly threatening a doctor over phone.

MLA Prahalad Gunjal from Kota (North) in Rajasthan had allegedly threatened the CMHO over the issue of transfer of a male nurse, reports said.

The phone conversation between the leader and  Dr. R N Yadav had gone viral over internet.
