The elections for the Speaker's post will be held on Sunday as the two-day session of the state Assembly will be held on July 3 and 4.

He had been associated with the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party in the past.

Narvekar is the son-in-law of Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar, a legislator from NCP and Chairman & Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
