BJP welcomes deferral of Punjab polls

| @indiablooms | Jan 18, 2022, at 01:29 am

Chandigarh/UNI: Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma on Monday welcomed the Election Commission's decision to postpone the polling day to Feb 20 in the state, in view of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

He said BJP had written a formal letter to EC, requesting the Commission to change the polling day.

The EC has played a significant role by being sensitive to religious sentiments, added the BJP leader.

He said the decision has benefited the true spirit of democracy, as no one will be denied the right and opportunity to cast his/her vote.
