Lucknow, Nov 12 (IBNS); Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said the result of  Chitrakoot assembly by-elections reflected the winds of change and the growing anger of people towards the BJP.

He said people of the country can understand the result of GST and noteban.

He said the defeat of the BJP in the bypolls will now be reflected in Gujarat elections too.

(The result of the Chitrakoot assembly by-elections is reflecting the winds of change  and that the people can understand the effects of GST and noteban. It also shows the anger and distrust people have towards BJP. The defeat of BJP will now reach Gujarat)."

The Congress on Sunday emerged victorious in the Chitrakoot assembly by-elections by over 14,000 vote.

With this win, the Congress party retains the Chitrakoot Assembly Constituency.

Congress candidate Nilanshu Chaturvedi got 68,810 votes while Bharatiya Janata Party's Shankar Dayal Tripathi got 52,677 votes in the crucial bye-polls.

The bypoll had to be held following the death of Congress MLA Prem Singh.

The voting was held on Nov 9, which witnessed 65 per cent voters turnout.
