| @indiablooms | Sep 02, 2020, at 04:29 pm

Palghar/UNI: As many as 23 people miraculously escaped when a four-story building on Achole road at Nalasopara in Palghar district collapsed on Wednesday morning, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) sources said.

The Chief Fire officer of the VVMC Dialup Pala said the building, built in 2009, had developed cracks and was declared dangerous. At the time of issuing a notice, 15 of the 20 families had already vacated the place.

On Tuesday midnight, when the rest of the residing occupants were discussing the future course of action, the whole building came down like a pack of cards.

Following heavy rain since Tuesday, firemen are facing difficulties to clear the debris, a fire official said.
