Bus falls in a ditch in Chhattisgarh, 12 die

At least 12 workers of a private company died and 14 others were injured on Tuesday after a bus overturned and fell in a ditch in Kumhari area of the Durg district of Chhattisgarh, media reports said.

The injured people were shifted to AIIMS (Raipur) for treatment.

Local administration has launched an investigation into the incident.

President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condole

President Droupadi Murmu has condoled the loss of lives in the incident.

PM Narendra Modi mourned the death of people in the tragedy and posted and X: "The bus accident in Durg, Chhattisgarh is extremely sad. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way."

Expressing grief, Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said: "I was saddened by the news of a bus, packed with employees of a private firm, meeting with an accident near Kumhari in Durg."
