By-polls results: Narendra Modi thanks people for faith in BJP

New Delhi, Nov 22 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday thanked people of India for resting their faith on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which won by-elections in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The result assumes significance as it was declared at a time whrn the Centre announced banning of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes on Nov 8.

"I thank people for the continued faith in BJP & in the BJP's unwavering focus on development and good governance," Modi tweeted.

By-polls were held for four parliament and 10 assembly constituencies in six states across the nation.

Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and union territory Puducherry voted in the polls.
