CBI summons TMC leader Anubrata Mondal in Bengal post-poll violence case

Kolkata/UNI: The CBI, which is probing the post-poll violence across West Bengal, has summoned ruling Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal to appear before the investigation officials at the CGO complex here on Tuesday, sources said on Monday.

TMC's Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal, who had appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation officers in relation to cattle smuggling case on May 19, has been asked to depose before the probing officials in regard to post-poll violences at 1 pm (Tuesday) at its Salt Lake office in the city.

Sixtyone-year-old leader Mondal, known to be a strongman of Birbhum district and a lieutenant of state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was grilled by the CBI at the Nizam Palace for over three hours in relation to the cattle trafficking case to Bangladesh on Thursday last.

Official sources said the latest summon notice was mailed to Mondal in relation to post poll violences, the third so far.

Earlier twice such notice was skipped by the politician citing health conditions.
