Chinese soldier, stranded in India for half a century, returns home

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS) : After remaining stranded in India for half a century, Chinese soldier Wang Qi, on Saturday reunited with his family back home as he returned to China, The Hindu reported.

Wang, accompanied by some of his family members arrived in Beijing in the morning  by an Air China flight and then he took a for Xian, the report quoted  official sources in Beijing as saying.

Two Indian embassy officials escorted Mr. Wang and some members of his family who accompanied him from India

Wang was caught when he entered the Indian territory shortly after the Sino-India War of 1962.

After his release from prison in 1969, he settled in Tirodi village of Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh.

A recent BBC TV feature on him was widely picked by the Chinese social media and the Chinese Government took action  in coordination with India for his return.
