Class 10 student jumps to death at Delhi metro station, alleges harassment by teachers

A 16-year-old Class 10 student from a well-known Delhi school died by suicide after jumping from the Rajendra Place Metro Station, leaving behind a note in which he accused his teachers of pushing him to the brink, media reports said.

His father has filed an FIR against three teachers and the school principal, alleging sustained mental harassment.

The teenager left home for school at 7:15 am on Tuesday. Around 2:45 pm, his father received a call informing him that the boy had been found injured near the elevated metro platform.

He was rushed to BL Kapoor Hospital, where the family was told he had not survived.

In his suicide note, the boy wrote an emotional apology to his parents, saying he had been repeatedly mistreated by teachers.

He named the principal and two teachers, asking that action be taken against them “so no other child is forced to do this.”

He also requested that his organs be donated “if they are in condition to work.”

According to the FIR, the boy’s friends told his father that one teacher had been threatening him for days with expulsion and a transfer certificate.

Another teacher had allegedly pushed him earlier. On Tuesday, during a dramatics class, he reportedly fell and was publicly mocked and scolded until he cried, while the principal allegedly stood by without intervening.

The father said his son had complained of harassment in the past, and the family had raised the issue with the school, but no action was taken. With Class 10 board exams approaching, he hesitated to escalate the matter, fearing it would affect internal marks. The parents had assured their son that he would be moved to another school after exams.

The boy’s note also included apologies to his elder brother and father, and a final message: “I am sorry, but the teachers have done this to me.”
