Jaipur: A fire-engulfed driverless car sped down the busy elevated road on Ajmer Road towards Sudarshanpura Pulia on Saturday, causing panic and forcing motorists to rush to save their vehicles, a viral video of the incident showed.

The burning vehicle hit a parked bike and eventually came to a halt after hitting a road divider, according to media reports.

Thankfully, no one was injured despite the road being full of commuters.

Videos shared widely on social media show motorcyclists abandoning their bikes as the flaming car approached, rushing to safety.

The car had been driven by Jitendra Jangid, a resident of Divya Darshan Apartment in the Journalist Colony of Mansarovar, according to a Times of India report.

According to the police, the incident began when Jitendra noticed smoke coming from the car's air conditioning while descending the elevated road, the TOI report said.

He called his brother, who advised him to check under the bonnet. After stepping out and opening it, Jitendra found that the engine had caught fire.

The flames spread rapidly, damaging the car's handbrake and causing it to roll down the slope.

The car hit a parked bike before finally stopping after striking a divider.

A fire tender from 22 Godam was dispatched after receiving an emergency call, but by the time the fire was extinguished, the car had been completely gutted, a police officer said.
