Constable commits suicide by shooting himself in Assam

Guwahati, Jun 21 (IBNS)  : In a shocking incident, an Assam police constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in central Assam’s Nagaon district last night.

The incident took place at Amsoi police outpost in Nagaon district. The constable, identified as Harjeet Singh (46) committed suicide by shooting himself with a 9mm pistol, Sabita Das, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Nagaon district, said 

The reason for the action is yet to know, but the police man's colleagues said that he was upset for a couple of days over some family problems.

The police have not found any suicide note.

The police have started an investigation into the matter.
