New Delhi/IBNS: With 15 Italian tourists testing positive in COVID-19, the number of total cases of Coronavirus in India jumped to 28 on Wednesday, media reports said.

15 Italian tourists, who had landed in Delhi last month, and an Indian who was with them have tested positive.

The tourists were part of a group of 23 Italians who had visited Rajasthan last month.

Two new cases were reported in Delhi and Hyderabad on Monday.

Coronavirus, which had originated in China's Wuhan late last year, has already spread to over 60 countries with Italy becoming the new hub of the outbreak.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday said all international passengers will be screened at the airport and not just the ones coming from earlier specified 12 countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he held an extensive meeting over Coronavirus and also asked people not to panic.

The Prime Minister had tweeted, "Had an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Different ministries & states are working together, from screening people arriving in India to providing prompt medical attention."

"There is no need to panic. We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection."

Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday said he would not take part in any programme related to festival Holi.

The Prime Minister tweeted, "Experts across the world have advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Hence, this year I have decided not to participate in any Holi Milan programme."
