Guwahati/IBNS: At a time when the nation is witnessing a lockdown to combat against COVID-19, a Shillong based dentist prescribed whiskey to one of his patients who had complained of withdrawal symptoms.

After the prescription of the dentist went viral on social media many people have criticized the doctor.

According to reports, Dr B Purkayastha prescribed two bottles of whiskey to a 65-year-old patient on Apr 3.

The dentist asked the patient not to drink more than three pegs (whiskey) in a day.

On the other hand, East Khasi Hills Wine Dealers and Welfare Association urged Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to grant permission to open the liquor shops in the state.

The association on Apr 3 sent a letter to the Meghalaya Chief Minister for seeking permission to open liquor shops.
