Coronavirus outbreak: Chinese Consul General Zha Liyou attends prayer meet in Kolkata

Kolkata/IBNS: The Chinese Consul General in Kolkata, Zha Liyou, attended a prayer meet to send out a message of love and solidarity to the people of China, reeling from the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.

The prayer meet, organized by Rakshak Foundation at Press Club on Monday, was attended by spiritual leaders such as Dr. Arunjyoti Bikkhu, Buddhist Monk, Sisters from the Apostolic Carmel, Rev. Archbishop, Samuel Pavana Raju, from the Catholic Church, Brahmakumari Manisha along with other well wishers.

Zha Liyou was overwhelmed with gratitude and prayed that the virus is defeated soon.

"China is our neighbour, with whom we have a shared history of thousands of years. We stand in solidarity with China and the people affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic worldwide. In this emergency, all we can do is pray that the crisis caused by the coronavirus outbreak is controlled soon," said Chaitali Das, Managing Trustee, Rakshak

The Chinese health authority said Monday it received reports of 202 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 42 deaths on Sunday on the Chinese mainland, reported Xinhua news agency.

All the deaths were in Hubei Province, according to the National Health Commission.

Also on Sunday, 2,837 people were discharged from hospital after recovery, while the number of severe cases decreased by 255 to 7,110.
