Kolkata/IBNS: Joining the cops from other cities, a Kolkata Police officer on Wednesday took to the art of signing in a bid to cheer the self-isolated residents of a particular area in the city amid lockdown called to combat COVID-19.

In a video which was retweeted by Kolkata's Commissioner of Police Anuj Sharma, a police officer was heard singing song "We shall overcome..." while his colleagues were trying to cheer the residents of the housing apartment.

The video was shared by Joint Commissioner of Police of Kolkata, Murlidhar, who has tweeted, "We Shall Over Come... @KPEastsubnDiv good job guys!!"

Similar picture was seen in other parts of the country as well.

In a video which was trending on social media few days ago, a police officer in Chhattisgarh was heard singing a parody of hugely popular Bollywood song 'Ek Pyar ka Nagma Hai' which was originally sung by legendary Lata Mangeshkar and late Mukesh for 1972 film Shor.

Through the parody, the police officer was trying to appeal to the residents to stay at home and wash hands repeatedly to fight against COVID-19 which has infected close to 2,000 people across the country and caused the death of over 50 patients.

The residents of the housing complex were seen acknowledging the parody of the police officer.

In another video from some other parts of the country, a police officer was heard singing 'Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye' song from 1999 Hindi film Sarfarosh.

The song was originally sung by Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam.
