Cow sanctuary to be made in every district: Himachal Minister

Dharamshala/UNI: Himachal Pradesh Rural Development Panchayati Raj Minister Virendra Kanwar said that the state government has resolved to make Himachal Pradesh destitute animal-free by March 2021.

To fulfill this resolution, the Minister said, cow sanctuaries are being established in 11 districts of the state.

In this connection, land has been earmarked for the cow century at four different sites Khabal, Kanghehan, Luthan and Badsar in Kangra district and a target has been set to complete the construction work within three months.

He said that funds have also been approved so that unclaimed animals could be kept safe and social participation will also be ensured for this.

The Minister told UNI after inspecting the site of Cow Century at Luthan in Jwalaji subdivision, Banuri of Dehra subdivision and Badsar of Palampur subdivision, that police have been instructed to act with impunity to stop it the stary animal menace.

He said that under the Himachal Pradesh Cow Prevention Act, there is a provision of five years of rigorous imprisonment or a fine of Rs 50,000.
