Hyderabad: A 20-year-old engineering student was killed by his friend over a love issue in Telangana.

Police said Nenawat Naveen from Sirisingand, Charukonda Mandal in Nagarkurnool district was studying final year B Tech Engineering course in MG University, Nalgonda.

Hari, who was studying in the same college, became friends with Naveen.

Both of them loved the same girl and quarreled on the issue frequently.

Keeping a grudge against Naveen, Hari invited him to his friend's room situated in Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy district on February 17 to celebrate a party.

Both the friends argued with each other on the issue during the party.

Later, Hari beat Naveen to death and threw the body into a nearby forest area.

Meanwhile, Naveen's father Sankaraiah lodged a complaint at the police on February 22 when he was not attending college.

Based on the complaint police took up the investigation.

Hari, who was afraid, surrendered before the police on Friday night and revealed the entire story.

Based on the information of Hari, Police recovered Naveen's body on Saturday and sent it to Osmania University for postmortem.

Further investigation is underway, police added.
