Death toll due to COVID-19 in India touches 199

New Delhi/IBNS: Death toll in India due to COVID-19 has touched 199, Ministry of Health data revealed on Friday.

So far, the country has reported  6412 cases of the coronavirus disease.

There are 5709 active cases in the country at present.

503 people have been discharged or cured of the disease so far.

Maharashtra has registered 97 deaths so far.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recently changed its strategy towards testing.

The medial body said every person with symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose in Covid-19 hot spots or cluster areas will now be tested for COVID-19.

The disease, which is believed to have originated from China, has now reached nearly all corners of the globe.
