Delhi gets monsoon season after long delay

New Delhi/UNI: After a delay of over 15 days, the South West Monsoon finally arrived in the national capital on Tuesday morning with several parts of the city experiencing heavy rains, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

For the first time in the last 15 years, the monsoon has advanced late in Delhi. Normally, it arrives by June 27, and covers the entire country by July 8.

Heavy rains were experienced in many areas in Delhi from 0700 hrs to 0830 hrs with Safdarjung recording 2.5 cm, Ayanagar 1.3, Palam 2.4 cm and Ridge 1.0 cm.

The IMD had forecast light to moderate rain in Delhi and its adjoining areas today.
