Delhi: Police arrest 2 men planning to go to Pak for weapons training

According to a report in the media, the accused have been identified as Khalid Mubarak Khan (21), a resident of Maharashtra, and Abdullah (26) alias Abdur Rehman, a resident of Tamil Nadu.

Police said they were radicalised over social media by a Pak-based handler.

They were guided by their handler on ways to cross the border illegally, police said, adding that two pistols with 10 live cartridges, a knife, and a wire cutter were recovered from their possession.

A senior police officer said the cops arrested the two men based on a tip-off that some people were being radicalised by Pak-based handlers and given instruction to cross the border illegally for weapons training in Pakistan for the purpose of launching terror attacks in India.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Rajiv Ranjan Singh, on February 14th, police received secret information that a group of individuals who had been radicalised would be arriving in Delhi from Mumbai with the intention of engaging in illicit activities. They were also believed to be planning to travel to Pakistan to receive training from a handler based there.

The arrested men have been booked under Arms Act on February 15 after their arrest, police said.

They also stated that additional investigations are currently underway to determine whether the suspects were involved in planning a terrorist attack.
