New Delhi/UNI: The operations of IndiGo airlines were affected across the country as its several flights faced delays due to non-availability of its crew members.

As per on-time performance (OTP) data available on Civil Aviation Ministry, IndiGo's OTP on July 2 was 45.2%.

A senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official told UNI that the aviation regulator has asked airline to explain the large scale flight delays.

IndiGo did not issue any statement till evening. A response from the airline was awaited. However, it responded over social media to passengers over the delay.

With its fleet of over 280 aircraft, IndiGo operates more than 1,600 flights daily connecting 73 domestic destinations and 24 international destinations.

Aviation industry sources said that many airlines, including foreign carriers, are on hiring spree and therefore crew members of IndiGo are learnt to have taken leave to appear for interviews.
