Dhaka, July 5 (IBNS): Receiving shock by the revelation that his 21-year-old son Rohan Imtiaz was one of the suspected terrorists who killed 20 people, at an upscale restaurant in Dhaka city after taking them hostage for over 10 hours, a Bangladeshi politician has apologised to the parents of Tarishi Jain, the Indian student killed in the terror attack.
"An Indian girl was killed in the attack, I can only apologise to India and to her parents ...I can only say I am an unfortunate father. I don't have enough words to apologise," Imtiaz Khan Babul told NDTV.

The politician belongs to Bangladesh's Awami League politician.

He said he was shocked to learn that one of the suspected terrorists was his son Rohan.

He described his son as "a topper in class and math, a football fanatic and Man U supporter."

"I identified my son from a picture released by the ISIS...I was stunned ...," Khan said.

Rohan had left left home in December last. Since then he had no connection with his family members.

Rohan had graduated from Scholastica, a school attended by children of Bangladesh's elites, and was enrolled at the BRAC University.

The Bangladeshi Army on Saturday said that 20 people were killed by heavily armed terrorists after being taken hostage at a restaurant in the capital city Dhaka on Friday evening.

The people were kept hostage for nearly 10 hours in Dhaka's upscale restaurant Gulshan. The stand-off between Army and terrorists came to a end on Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old Indian girl, Tarishi Jain, who was taken hostage in the restaurant, also died in the terror attack in Dhaka.

The operation left six terrorists killed as well.

Rohan Imtiaz and five other young men were shot dead by Bangladeshi security forces on Saturday at the end of the terror attack, claimed by the ISIS. One was taken alive and is being questioned.
