Dhubri: Two smugglers held with over 10,000 Bangladeshi contraceptive pills

Guwahati, Mar 29 (UNI) Two women smugglers have been arrested along with over 10,000 strips of Bangladeshi contraceptive pills by the BSF from Patamari area in Dhubri district along the Indo-Bangaldesh border. 

Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended the two Indian smugglers yesterday, a BSF release said here today.


Based on specific information of BSF intelligence branch, troops of BOP Patamari of 67 Bn BSF deployed in Dhubri, under BSF Guwahati Frontier, were keeping surveillance and dominating the riverine border area.


Alerted troops observed suspicious movement of miscreants along with head loads towards the international border, taking advantage of dense foggy weather.
When challenged by the troops, they did not pay any heed and tried to cross towards Bangladesh.

Two of them were apprehended by troops before crossing to International boundary along with 10,500 Strips of 'Sukhi' contraceptive tablets.


The apprehended drug smugglers are Monorowa Bewa (48 Yrs), and Apruja Bibi (30 Yrs), both hailing from Patamari area.


They have been handed over to Dhubri police for further legal action, the BSF release added.
