New Delhi, Nov 29 (IBNS): The Election Commission (EC) has issued show cause notices to 20 political parties including Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Samajwadi Party for defaulting in filing poll expenditure statements within the stipulated time.
"The Expenditure statement of your party for Lok Sabha elections 2014 and Assembly elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh-2014 has not been filed with the Commission so far, although the due date has long expired," the Commission stated in its notice.

"Final opportunity is being given hereby to comply with the instructions of the Commission, for filing the said expenditure statement within a fortnight from date of receipt of this letter, it said.

The Commission had earlier issued instructions to all political parties to file their election expenditure statement within 75 days of assembly election and 90 days of Lok Sabha elections. However, the parties failed to do so.
