New Delhi, Apr 28 (IBNS): The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday issued a show cause notice to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi for allegedly making a "deemed appeal" to seek support from all Bishops, Pastors, Brothers and Sisters in Christ from Dumka Lok Sabha seat.
"Whereas, the commission has received report dated 20th April, 2014 of CEO, Jharkhand enclosing a complaint dated 20th April, zo14 of sh. "Whereas, the Commission is, prima facie, of the opinion that by making the aforesaid statements you have violated the above said provisions of Model code of Conduct," the Commission said.

The ECI, therefore, asked Marandi to explain his stand.

"Now, therefore, the Commission gives you an opportunity to explain your stand in making the above said statements before 11 am on 30th April, 2014, failing which the ECI shall take a decision without further reference to you," it said.
