New Delhi/UNI: Saluting the women on International Women's Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that many efforts have been made to keep the country's Nari Shakti at the forefront of India's development journey.

"On Women's Day, I salute our Nari Shakti and their accomplishments in diverse fields. The Government of India will keep focusing on women empowerment through its various schemes with an emphasis on dignity as well as opportunity," the Prime Minister said in a tweet.

He further said that the government's efforts for women will continue with even greater vigour.

"From financial inclusion to social security, quality healthcare to housing, education to entrepreneurship, many efforts have been made to put our Nari Shakti at the forefront of India's development journey. These efforts will continue with even greater vigour in the coming times," he added.

Tagging a tweet of the government's citizen engagement platform (@mygovindia), the Prime Minister highlighted that for the first time the country has witnessed more women than men when it comes to sex ratio and that gross enrollment of girls in higher education is increased by 18 per cent from 2015 to 2020.

The Prime Minister also shared a video based on various episodes of his monthly program Mann Ki Baat which showcased different aspects of women empowerment and the life journeys of inspiring women who brought grassroot level changes.
