Mahua Moitra's defiant response

As the unrest continued, Mahua Moitra appeared at a window of her office holding the Trinamool Congress flag in a symbolic show of defiance.

Ignoring the protesters outside, she repeatedly shouted, "Trinamool Congress zindabad," while waving the party flag. Videos of the moment quickly went viral on social media.

The Trinamool Congress also accused police personnel present at the spot of remaining largely passive despite the escalating situation.

Mahua Moitra alleges BJP attack

Sharing videos of the incident on social media, Moitra alleged that "BJP goons" had gathered outside her office for over an hour before pelting eggs and stones.

She claimed the attack was an attempt to intimidate her and asserted that such tactics would not deter her from carrying out her political work.

BJP rejects allegations

The BJP dismissed the Trinamool Congress' allegations, claiming the protest reflected growing public anger against the ruling party in West Bengal.

Party leaders maintained that the demonstration was a spontaneous expression of people's resentment and accused the TMC of trying to portray itself as a victim for political mileage.

“Our party has no agenda to throw eggs on TMC leaders. The TMC faction which remained deprived of the loot is pelting eggs on the other faction which was heavily benefitted from the previous regime. How much police would control them? Where have the top TMC leaders gone?,” West Bengal BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya said.

Abhishek Banerjee condemns incident

Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee strongly condemned the incident, alleging that a "BJP-sponsored mob" had attacked Mahua Moitra's office.

Questioning the role of the police, Banerjee said attempts to intimidate Trinamool leaders through violence and vandalism would not succeed and asserted that the party would continue to resist such actions.

The egg-pelting episode is the latest in a series of increasingly confrontational political protests, with symbolic attacks such as throwing eggs, ink and black flags becoming a recurring feature of India's charged political landscape.
