Eight killed in Thane's timber mart fire

Thane, Dec 27 (IBNS): At least eight persons were charred to death and three others seriously injured in a fire on Saturday in Thane, media reports said. The incident took place in a timber mart at Bhiwandi town of Thane.

Sources said the fire broke out at around 2.30 am in a wood godown of Madvi compound in Rahnal and spread to at least three other adjacent godowns.

As many as 12 fire engines were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Firefighters are still fighting the blaze, reports said. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Police said that the injured were admitted to a local hospital and one them has been shifted to Sion hospital.
