Ex-President APJ Abdul Kalam admitted to Shillong hospital
According to reports, the 84-year-old was soon rushed to a hospital after he fell ill at the function.
He is being treated at the ICU in Bethany Hospital, reports said.
An eminent Indian scientist, Kalam has served as the 11th President of India.
Kalam was elected as the President of India in 2002 with the support of both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Indian National Congress.
After serving a term of 5 years, he returned to civilian life of education, writing and public service.
Kalam has received several prestigious awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor.
