Fadnavis slams CMs for skipping PM's meet over Planning Commission
New Delhi, Dec 7 (IBNS): While Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday is meeting chief ministers of states over replacing Planning Commission, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hit out at two CMs for skipping the same.
Modi is holding consultations with chief ministers of states on the structure and role of the new body that will replace the Planning Commission.
However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have skipped the meet.
Maharashtra CM, who is attending the meet, said the skip is against the national interest.
"Why they are doing this, only they would know. Whatever the reason, I feel the Prime Minister 's meet is a very important one, and skipping it is against the interest of the nation," he told mediapersons.
Banerjee, who skipped the meet, has been in a tussle with the Centre for long over Burdwan blasts and Saradha scam investigations.
State Finance Minister Amit Mitra is attending the meeting on her behalf.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has cited Assembly elections in his state as the reason for skipping the meet, reports said.
