New Delhi.IBNS: Uttar Pradesh Police have filed an FIR against fact-checker and Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair over his social media posts allegedly revealing the identity of the Muslim boy slapped repeatedly by his classmates on the orders of their school teacher who also appeared to make communal remarks.

On Friday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NHRC) had warned against revealing identities- particularly by sharing the video of the attack on the Class 2 student.

NCPCR Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo urged people to "not become part of the crime by revealing the identity of the children".

The video showed the boy being slapped as he stood helplessly with tears running down his cheek and the teacher, Tripta Tyagi, making communal remarks and urging classmates to hit harder.

Soon after the video surfaced last week, it triggered outrage, with opposition politicians targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In the horrific video, loud slaps are heard as the students follow their teacher's instructions. "Why don't you hit harder? Whose turn is it?" Tyagi can be heard in the gut-wrenching video.

The accused teacher, Tripta Tyagi, who is also the principal of the Neha Public School in Muzaffarnagar, was seen making communal remarks while asking students to slap the 7-year-old as he stood helplessly with tears streaming down his face.

"I am not ashamed. I have served the people of this village as a teacher. They all are with me," Tyagi earlier told NDTV.
