Forgiven All, Says Kerala Professor as 14 Convicted for chopping his hand
The quntum of punishment for the convicts will be announced on May 5.
However, T J Joseph, the professor who was attacked, says he has forgiven the attackers.
On July 4, 2010, Joseph, who at that time taught Malayalam at a college in the Idukki district, was attacked by members of the Popular Front of India.His right hand was hacked for preparing a question paper which allegedly hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.
The extremist group said an exam he conducted included a "blasphemous" question.
Joseph was later suspended by the Newman college, run by the Syro Malabar church the charge that he used the institution to hurt the religious sentiments of other community.
Joseph, who denied the charge was later allowed to join the college.
The conviction of his attackers came as Joseph, 57, released a book he has written.
"When I wrote these notes, it was with my right hand. Today, I introduce it to you with my left hand," he said at a small event in Idduki.
"I have forgiven everyone. I just intend to live my life as normally as I can in the given circumstances," he said to NDTV.
