Former minister Dayanidhi Maran and brother discharged by court in Aircel-Matrix corruption case

New Delhi, Feb 2 (IBNS) : A special court on Thursday discharged former union minister Dayanaidhi Maran, his brother Kalanithi Maran and all other accused in the Aircel-Matrix case, reports said.

The court ruled that they will not be tried for alleged corruption they had been accused of.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had alleged Dayanidhi Maran, as Minister in the UPA-I government used his influence to help Malaysian businessman T.A. Ananda Krishnan buy Aircel by coercing its owner Sivasankaran to part with his stake.

The court was to frame charges against Dayanidhi and Kalanithi, but found no ground to proceed against them and the rest of the accused.
